Conveying and packaging equipment · EGH502H · 25% GF POM
Conveyor chain attachment
EGH502H POM with 25% glass fiber, revised ribs and local wall thickness improved lateral cantilever stiffness without continued wall thickening.
Project status: Small-batch validation
Customer and component
The customer builds conveyors for food and packaging operations. Injection-molded attachments on the chain secure guides and product-positioning mechanisms through many repeated mechanical cycles and lateral loads.
The challenge
Standard POM provided acceptable friction behavior, but the long cantilever lacked stiffness under lateral load. Increasing wall thickness led to longer cooling times and local sink marks.
Material choice and molding trials
Taiyi Polymer recommended EGH502H POM with 25% glass fiber to reduce structural deformation through greater material stiffness.
Ribs and local wall thickness were revised to meet stiffness requirements with a thinner structure.
Customer feedback and project status
The customer reported normal filling in the molding trial, less loaded deflection of the cantilever and avoidance of the severe sink marks associated with continued wall thickening. Small-batch validation began after testing on a prototype conveyor line.
